Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's.

Let's get back to basics!

🦋The thyroid is a tiny butterfly-shaped gland just below the Adam's apple. It has 2 lobes that are on the sides of the trachea, which are connected by tissue called the isthmus.

🦋The thyroid gland produces hormones so it's part of our endocrine system. It's also part of what we call the HPT axis. It includes the hypothalamus, pituitary, and thyroid and they all work and communicate together to maintain thyroid hormone balance.

🦋The thyroid gland absorbs iodine to combine with tyrosine (an amino acid) to make T3 and T4 hormones. Thyroid hormones act on pretty much every cell in our body, making this little gland a huge powerhouse! We make more T4 hormone and need our body to convert it to T3, which is what does the work we want thyroid hormone to do.

🦋Thyroid hormones play a role in metabolism, heart rate, digestion, body temperature regulation, brain function, glucose metabolism, and bone metabolism just to name a few. This is why we tend to see symptoms throughout the whole body when we talk about thyroid disorders.

I'll post more on the HPT axis, how the thyroid works, different thyroid disorders and root causes.

What questions do you have about the thyroid and how it works?

They aren't the same and can't be used interchangeably 🙅🏻‍♀️.

You can have one without the other and you can have both at the same time!

It's estimated that over 90% of hypothyroidism cases are actually Hashimoto's disease and autoimmune in nature. This is big because a lot of doctors don't test antibodies as it doesn't change their treatment plan. Lot's of undiagnosed Hashimoto's out there...You deserve to know!

Hashimoto's is a problem with the immune system and should be treated this way. Get to the root of the problem, calm down the immune system, lessen the attack on the thyroid! Hopefully, prevent hypothyroidism if caught early enough.

Did you know... Thyroid conditions like Hashimoto's, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism are still mysteries to medical science and research.

Your thyroid creates and produces hormones that play a role in many different systems throughout your body. When your thyroid makes either too much or too little of these important hormones, it's called a thyroid disease. There are several different types of thyroid disease, including hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroiditis and Hashimoto's thyroiditis . It is said that some of them are autoimmune conditions, where the body's cells attack and damage the thyroid. These are NOT inherited conditions, like the medical field has stated.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀It doesn't make sense to me, why the body start attacking itself, according to traditional medical doctors. The allopathic medical field hasn't realized that the body is behind the aggressor which is a pathogen.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The main pathogen involves in this wreckage is Epstein-Barr virus, according to Medical Medium. So, it makes sense to me that in most of the so called autoimmune disorders, the main culprits are pathogens.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
